Igor Kuzle (S’94–M’97–SM’04) is a Full Professor and the Head of the Department of Energy and Power Systems at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Since 2015 he is IEEE Region 8 Vice Chair for technical activities. His scientific interests include problems in electric power systems dynamics and control, unit commitment, maintenance of electrical equipment, as well as power system analysis and integration of renewable energy sources.

He serves in more than 10 international journals as an associate editor or a member of editorial board. Igor Kuzle published three books and more than 200 journal and conference papers including technical studies for utilities and private companies. He served as chairman and participant in organization of few international scientific conferences and workshops. Also, he was the project leader for more than 60 technical projects for industry and electric power companies. Since 2012, he has been a member of Croatia TSO Coordination Group for Connection of renewable energy sources and member of Advisory expert committee of the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection in the evaluation of environmental impact of the wind farms. He is a member of technical commission for assignation of Croatian quality mark of Croatian Chamber of Economy and a member of Croatian Chamber of Electrical Engineers and a Licensed Engineer since 1994.

Prof. Kuzle has been the IEEE PES Chapter Representative for Central Europe and Scandinavia in IEEE Region 8 since 2010 and IEEE IAS Chapter Area Chair for Region 8 since 2011. Also, he was a member of the Croatian National Committee CIGRE executive board.

Ana Katalinić Mucalo received her MSc and PhD from the University of Zagreb Faculty of electrical engineering and computing (FER) in 2005 and 2013 respectively.

Since graduation she has been with Radiocommunications Department at Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) as an Expert for Microwave and Satellite Networks, dealing mostly with frequency planning, interference analysis and cross-border coordination of fixed networks. She has been engaged in work of different international working groups within CEPT and ITU. As a researcher she has participated in European Union funded project for wireless communications COST2100 and IC1004.She has published more than 20 scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings. She is IEEE member since 2008. She has served as a Croatia Section GOLD AG Chair 2010-2012 and currently serves as the Croatia Section secretary. On regional level, she was a member of IEEE Region 8 Young Professionals subcommittee (2013-2014) and currently serves as the IEEE Region 8 Professional Activities chair.

Piotr Graca is a Ph.D. student at Opole University of Technology (Poland) where he is doing research in the field of active magnetic bearings and is teaching students in electrical engineering lab. He joined IEEE in 2007 and has served as the Student Branch chair from 2010 to 2013. In period 2013 – 2014 he was an Awards and Contests Coordinator in the Region 8 Student Activities Committee (SAC). Since 2015 he has been serving as Awards and Recognition Subcommittee Chair in IEEE MGA SAC. In 2013, he was the main coordinator of the 2nd IEEE Central European Student Branch Congress (CEuSBC’13) and also an organizing committee member of the IEEE International Symposium on Electrodynamic and Mechatronic Systems (SELM’13). For his involvement in many international student projects related to IEEE, he obtained valuable awards such as: Regional Laureate of Polish Student Nobel Award (2011), Region 8 Larry K. Wilson Regional Student Activities Award (2012) and The Darrel Chong Student Activity Award – Bronze medal (2013) – group award. In the free time he likes riding his motorcycle, loves taking pictures and enjoys dancing salsa/bachata.
