IEEE Student Branch Zagreb started its activities in 1994 at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical
Engineering and Computing and it is the oldest student branch in Croatia Section. Now it has 201 members. The
majority of the members are PhD students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in fields of
computer science, software engineering, telecommunications, control engineering and automation, robotics, as well
as the electrical power engineering. Currently we have four student branch chapters: Computer Chapter,
Communication Chapter, Industrial Applications Chapter, and Power and Energy Chapter. The activities we organize
include technical and soft skills lectures, workshops, job fairs, company visits, IEEE Day celebration and annual
Croatian student branch congress. Volunteering experience from other branches is very valuable to us and at least
once a year we meet together with student branches from Rijeka, Split and Osijek to share ideas, transfer knowledge
and meet new volunteers. The technical lectures and workshops are usually organized with the help of professors and
research assistants at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing; hence we have a good collaboration with
all the departments at the Faculty. Other than the academia, we also collaborate with industry, usually in the form
of job fairs, company visits and STEP events.
